Preparing for your Boudoir Session

Being well prepared for your session will help ensure you will look and feel your best. Here are some tips to help you prep for your session:

SKIN

  • Don’t hit the tanning booth or use self tanners.
  • Avoid anything that cause extremes in your skin tones.
  • Use a good moisturizer. It will help give your skin a nice natural glow and a little shine will bring out your definition and tone.
  • Don’t get your eyebrows waxed or have a facial right before either.
  • Avoid things that can cause stress on a day you’re supposed to feel relaxed.
  • Shave and moisturize the day before.
  • Be well hydrated but cut back the salt a little bit if water retention is a concern.
  • Use a clear deodorant.

HAIR & MAKE UP

If professional hair and make up are not included in your session, we strongly recommend you have them done. A natural mani/pedi is also recommended.  Consider false eyelashes as well.  Make sure your eyebrows are shaped and groomed.  Don’t go wild with hair spray, unless you’re doing an 80’s themed shoot. Otherwise, think natural with some oomph.  If you’re doing your own make up, think natural, use a good matching base and think subtle.

WARDROBE

Wear loose fitting clothing to your session to help minimize any markings.  (Avoid jeans, tight socks or other tight pinchy clothing)
Bring clothes that you feel sexy in. Don’t go out and buy anything you’ll feel uncomfortable in as it’ll show in your face and body language. This is all about you feeling great!

Some suggestions are fall-off-the-shoulder tops, cropped soft sweaters, a man’s button down shirt/tie, lacy underthings, simple black and white bras/panties (they can pair with other things), sheer slips/teddies, anything vintage, stockings/thigh highs/soft over-the-knee socks, sexy heels and subtle jewelry and hair pieces/flowers. Layering items is always a good thing to keep in mind.

Some other ideas include bringing items that are meaningful to you or your significant other such as military dogtags, musical instruments, sports jerseys, or a favorite outfit.

Try everything on before you leave for your session. Nothing can ruin a mood faster than finding something doesn’t fit as expected.  Remove tags and labels.

Bring your favorite jewellery. Elegant to blunt.  You can be as subtle or loud as you like. You don’t have to wear it, but it adds a nice touch.   Sexy shoes, fish nets, garters, it’s all good.

Sexy doesn’t necessarily mean less clothing.

SLEEP

Try and get a good nights sleep the night before your session. Being well rested will keep your energy up and you looking great.

EAT

Eat something light but filling before your session.  It’s hard to relax when your stomach’s grumbly.

RELAX & HAVE FUN!

Bring some music you like to help set the mood. A boudoir session is meant for you, and we want you to feel great!  It’s normal to feel a bit nervous but don’t worry, you’re gonna be great! We will guide you through your session and you are in complete control. Be as tame or wild as you want to be.
